Supply chain problem solvers, specialising in the Territory.
Freight Insight NT was built on a simple idea: that businesses moving difficult cargo deserve advice that isn't compromised by who's paying the freight forwarder's commission. We're independent — which means when we tell you the best way to move your cargo, it's because it's the best way, not because it's the arrangement that suits us.
About our Freight & Logistics consulting services
Over more than twenty years, that's meant handling almost everything freight has to offer: mining and drilling equipment, power transformers, vehicles, vessels, specialised and defence-related equipment, and project cargo bound for some of the most remote sites in Australia. It's also meant the less obvious jobs — coordinating imports for more than twenty independent craft breweries, and managing the export of sandalwood and African mahogany to markets overseas.
We're currently the primary logistics partner for a US-based mining company drilling in the Beetaloo Basin, and we work with businesses investing across the Northern Territory's resources, energy and infrastructure sectors more broadly. Wherever the cargo is going — Darwin, Beetaloo, or any major port around the country — the approach is the same: independent advice, a vetted network of preferred suppliers, and two decades of knowing how to get the awkward stuff there in one piece.
Richard Dexter — Managing Director & Principal Consultant
Richard Dexter founded Freight Insight NT after more than twenty years in freight forwarding and logistics, working across mining, energy and industrial supply chains in some of the most remote and demanding parts of Australia. His path into freight started earlier still, in manufacturing — including commercial textile design and manufacture — where he first built hands-on experience importing raw materials and exporting finished goods around the world. That grounding in the practical realities of moving physical product internationally still shapes how he approaches every project today. His approach has always started from the same question: is this the best way to move this cargo, or just the easiest arrangement for the forwarder handling it? That independence is what the business is built on.
Richard now leads FreightInsightNT's work as primary logistics partner for a US-based mining company drilling in the Beetaloo Basin, alongside a client base spanning mining and resources, specialised and defence-related equipment, vehicle and vessel imports, and export logistics for goods like sandalwood and African mahogany.
